Since the Victorian era, lovers have been expressing their feelings with roses. Bashful Victorian suitors presented gifts of roses to reveal emotions considered too delicate to express out loud.These small rose bouquets were called tussie mussies. Courtships were often carried on from the first blush to the alter with roses as the primary form of communication. Different colors, varieties and arrangements of roses conveyed different messages.

Red Roses say "I Love you" and also stand for respect and courage.
White Roses can say "you're heavenly", communicate reverence, innocence and purity, "I'm worthy of you" and secrecy and silence.
